Congratulations to our April Shining Stars!
Shining Stars are STAR students picked by their teachers for going above and beyond in the classroom.
We are so proud of them for their dedication and hard work!
Piper L. Age 7
Piper studies a variety of different dance styles, but her favorite would have to be ballet class. She loves it because she finds it to be ‘really fancy.’ Piper’s favorite move in ballet would have to be “Grandma Marge”; her way of saying Grand Battement.
Piper is apparently a secretly gifted teacher as she has tried to teach her uncle a hip hop move. She says “he understood it well.”
In preparation for her debut in the Spring recital, Piper plans on trying to remember her music. She hopes to practice a lot in her spare time. She’d like to encourage her classmates to always be quiet when the teacher is talking, “Or else you might not know what to do in class.”
When Piper is not dancing, she ‘sings a lot’. She also enjoys drawing, hanging out with her dog and cat, and loves spending time with her family.
Savannah A. Age 15
Savannah is a dedicated dancer, never showing up to a class without her determination to do her best. While she studies a wide variety, Ballet is Savannah’s favorite style.
“What I love about dance in general is that it clears my mind and makes me happy.”
When she is not dancing, Savannah enjoys jamming to Taylor Swift, doing hair, and photography. She also enjoys coaching her sisters and helping them with dance moves and to brush up on their acro;
“They love it just as much as I do!”
The best pieces of advice she ever received are what she would like to pass on to her classmates:
1) “Standing up for yourself is ok when someone is treating you badly”
2) “Stop worrying what other people think about you.”
Sidney N. Age 10
Sidney loves to have fun no matter what class she is in. She tries her best to take the advice she was given to always stay focused and to try her best. She enjoys PCDC for the teachers, and how she feels when she is in class;
“I love PCDC because you can be whoever you want. You can dance in your own way and no one will judge you.”
On the teaching front, she has tried to show her sister the ‘coffee grinder’ and feels she was very successful. Her passion for hip hop is something that she would like to share with others since she feels it is the most fun. She enjoys being able to ‘let loose’ in that class.
Sidney would like to encourage her fellow classmates to never give up when trying to learn a hard step;
“If it’s hard, practice. Practice and you will get better at it. IT does not matter how hard it is you can still do it.”
Her favorite things to do when she is not in class are spending time with her friends and gymnastics.
