Congratulations to our June Shining Stars!

Shining Stars are STAR students picked by their teachers for going above and beyond in the classroom.

Jenna O. (Age:5)

Jenna has been dancing at PCDC for 3 years.

She is in Intro to Dance on Tuesdays and Thursdays and her favorite part of class is freeze dance.

Outside of dance, Jenna enjoys playing with toys and eating dinner with her family.

What helps Jenna is to “Work hard and smile to make my dreams come true.”

Michelle T. (Age:9)

Michelle has only been dancing for one year but has fallen in love with the art;

“When I Dance, I am happy.”

She takes ballet and jazz classes during the week but her favorite style would have to be jazz.

“I like it because it includes a lot of different movements and emotions.”

Michelle’s goals in preparation for the recital are to become more flexible and better point her toes.

In her spare time, she has tried to teach her friends different dance moves. When asked about teaching her parents she said, “Not my parents, just can’t do it.”

Her advice to her classmates is to “Never quit.”

Mayor W. (Age:15)

Mayor loves to dance because she has fun and gets to see all of her friends.

“Dancing has been a passion of mine since I was 8 and I immediately fell in love.”

Her favorite style of dance is Jazz because “I love dancing to the fast music and hitting the moves. Jazz is fun to let go and to express myself through my movement.”

Outside of dance, Mayor plays the piano and draws. She also loves to play with her dog Shane.

The best advice she’s ever gotten: “Be yourself and don’t care about what others think. Also, do what you love and you will be the happiest person alive!”

The advice that she would give to others is to “Always look on the bright side, and smile as much as you can.”
