Congratulations to our May Shining Stars!
Shining Stars are STAR students picked by their teachers for going above and beyond in the classroom.
Kerensa S. (Age:7)
Kerensa loves to dance and studies a variety of different dance styles throughout the week. She is a dedicated dancer who always tries her best. Her favorite dance style she studies, is ballet because it ‘has twirls.’
She has previously tried to teach her friend a spin. Kerensa feels she was a good and successful teacher.
When she is not dancing, she enjoys helping her dad. She plays video games, crafts, and watches videos on her tablet.
She would love to remind her classmates to always ‘have fun.’ The best advice she ever received from a parent was from her Grandma Bonnie, “Sharing is Caring.”
Camden A. (Age:12)
Camden takes class multiple times during the week. She is a dedicated dancer, always working hard and giving her best. Her favorite style is hip hop since it is one of her most challenging classes to take. Camden feels like she has improved a lot this year but is always up for new things and loves to push herself.
When she is not dancing, she enjoys skiing, wake boarding, reading and cooking.
Her favorite dance move to practice at home is any acro trick. She especially loves to practice walking on her hands. To prepare for the recital, Camden plans on practicing all of her dances often and asking appropriate questions in class.
Camden would like to encourage others by admonishing them to be themselves; “Don’t compare yourself to other people, we are all amazing in our own way.”
Caroline M. (Age:18)
Caroline has been dancing at PCDC for 5 years. Her favorite part of dancing at PCDC has been the family that she has created and the support/love that she received from them.
Her favorite style is Contemporary because “it makes me feel good and confident. It also can help me portray so many different emotions. I also feel like I have improved the most in this style since I began dancing.”
When not dancing she likes to volunteer at her church as a Youth Group Leader, and spend time with friends & family.
The best advice Caroline every received is “that smiling and being positive affects the outcome of what you are doing. So, don’t forget to smile”. Caroline would like to tell her classmates “to keep dancing for themselves because it feels good when you push yourself because YOU want to.”
