Congratulations to our October Shining Stars!
Shining Stars are STAR students picked by their teachers for going above and beyond in the classroom.
Alexia B. (Age 8)
Alexia has been dancing for almost 2 years with her favorite dance style is hip hop. “I like it because I feel I can express my personality best with faster paced music.” When Alexia is not dancing, she enjoys all forms of art; “I like to build things with my hands- with clay. I also like to draw. My dad was very good at drawing and he’s inspired me to want to be as good as him one day.” In addition to art, Alexia enjoys being outside riding her bike, scooter, or her skateboard. She would like to encourage her fellow dancers to ‘smile more and to always practice your dances at home.’
Emily H. (Age 12)
Emily has been dancing for 5 years and this is her 3rd year being on the Performance Company. When Emily is not dancing her favorite hobby is art- a really fun pastime. Her motivation inside of the classroom comes from the many friends she has made throughout the years and Ms. Miranda. She would like to encourage fellow dancers to not stress and just have fun!
Zoe H. (Age 12)
Zoe has been a PCDC dancer for 4 years now. Although she studies a variety of styles, her favorite would be tap. Especially since ‘you can make noises and not get yelled at.’ For her, tap is a way to show emotion through her feet. Zoe’s motivation comes from her “brain saying you can be so much better at this if you practice, listen and give it your all.” She loves showing her family how much she loves dance when they watch her perform. Zoe wishes everyone could feel the way she does about dance and wants to share that love with others, “Without dance, life is just a dull square. Live, love and dance.”
