Recital FAQs

A dance recital is a presentation of choreographed routines. Our students work hard to improve their technique, learn choreography, and perfect their performance skills. A recital is when our students get to show off their hard work to family and friends.

Saturday, June 15th, 2019
at Vance Brand Civic Auditorium (Skyline High School)
600 E Mountain View Ave, Longmont, CO 80504.

SHOWTIMES: (times are tentative and may change slightly)

11:00am-12:15pm- Blue show (Pre-K/Kinder & Level 1 students)

2:00-4:00pm – Green Show (Level 2 & higher students)

5:30-7:30pm – Orange Show (Level 2 & higher students)

To help our families tell the difference between each of our 3 showings we have assigned them colors. All information pertaining to a specific show will be color-coded.

Each class is guaranteed to perform in one show. You will receive an information packet with your costume that will let you know which show your dancer will be performing in at Costume Pick-up Day on May 11th, 2019.

Due to the logistics of scheduling 3 shows, we cannot guarantee siblings will be in the same show.

Tickets will be sold online through Dance Recital Ticketing starting on April 15th.

Tickets will also be sold in the auditorium lobby before the shows begin on June 15th. Tickets will not be sold at PCDC.

BLUE show tickets will be $12 in advance and $15 at the door.

GREEN and ORANGE Show tickets will be $17 in advance and $20 at the door.

All lap children (under 5 that are willing to sit in someone’s lap for the whole show) can get in for FREE. Contact the front desk to learn how to reserve your free tickets.

If your child is in the show, then you will not need to buy a ticket.
We will keep all dancers backstage until the show is over. Siblings
will need a ticket if they want to sit in their own seat. Children age 5
and under who can sit on a parent’s lap do not need tickets.

Current PCDC dancers can watch all 3 shows for free

No picture or video on recital day. Pictures and video can be taken at Dress Rehearsal if there is no flash. A professional digital copy of the show is included in your recital package.

Picture Day is Sunday, May 19th, 2019. We are excited to be working with a new photographer this year, Emily Hansen. Check Out Her Work Here

You are not required to buy pictures or attend picture day. However, it is strongly encouraged as other dancers might be hoping for group shots of the entire class.

10:00-10:30 am Blue Show dancer check-in.

1:00-1:30 pm Green Show dancer check-in.

4:30-5:00 pm Orange Show dancer check-in.

PCDC will have a check-in desk in the lobby. All dancers must be check-in 30 minutes before the show begins. Dancers are expected to be Stage Ready at check-in. A staff member or teacher’s assistant will escort students to the backstage area.

Stage ready means that students are completely ready to dance on stage.
They have their hair and make-up done, and are in their costume. They
also have gone to the bathroom before being dropped off.

  1. Costume(s) – verify with your individual costume check-list
  2. Correct undergarments
  3. Correct dance shoes
  4. Make-up, extra bobby pins, and hair ties
  5. Non-messy snacks, such as goldfish or crackers
  6. Water bottle
  7. Clothes to change into after finale/final bow
  8. For younger ones, A coloring book or quiet game

Hint: Using a laundry basket, a large duffel bag, or suitcase can help keep your dancer’s belongings organized if they’re in multiple routines.

We will have staff backstage to supervise and entertain the younger dancers, as well as assist with quick changes for older dancers. For younger dancers please find the class bucket with their name on it and put all their belongings there. There will also be a live feed to the show and/or movie in the dressing rooms for the dancers to watch.

It is essential that all audience members and dancers stay until the end of the show. Please do not visit your child in the dressing room during the show or during intermission.

  1. This is for a number of reasons.
  2. Foremost, this is for the safety and security of every dancer.
  3. We believe that every dancer deserves a final bow.
  4. We are trying to teach our dancers proper theatre etiquette. It is very rude to leave before dancers take their final bow.

All parents with dancers in the Blue Show will be given 1 wristband at check in. When the show is finished the curtain will close, please stay in the audience. After a short pause we will open the curtains back up and one family member (whoever has the wristband) can come up to the stage to collect your dancer. Please do not come onto the stage! Once you have collected your dancer you can continue back stage to get their belongings. All dancers in the Green and Orange Shows will meet their parents in the Lobby or backstage after the show is finished.

We will not be providing child-care or supervision in between the shows. Please pick up your child after each show and deliver them at least 30 minutes before the next show.

All dancers must stay backstage for the entire show. Our student’s safety is our number one concern. We invite our dancers and their family to watch all of the dress rehearsal. There will also be a live feed in the dressing rooms for the dancers to watch during the recital, as well as a professional digital video included in your recital package.
